20 weeks! ( Ultra sound pictures!!)

Front facing,( you can see the eyes, nose and mouth here.)
Arms, you can clearly see the bones and elbows and tiny fingers!
Here's the little thumb sucker! (insert googly heart eye emoji here)
Here's the side body shot.

How far along/ how far to go: HALF WAY DONE! HALF WAY TO GO!!

Mama thoughts: I try think of difficult or "long periods of time" things I've done, and the half way point in each of those things, and the first half for sure goes by slower then the second half! We had our 20 wk anatomy scan on Tuesday! That was a roller coaster! Phew. They have you drink SO MUCH WATER. I was curious why so I looked it up! "The readings from ultra sounds are much clearer and thus more accurate once you have a full bladder. Remember that the ultra sound is waves bouncing off from different sounds and motions in order to create an image - so having a full bladder aids with a 'picture perfect' ultrasound." So that wasn't fun, I was pretty close to crying, because we waited over 1.5 hrs with an entirely full bladder. Thankfully the tech let me go to the bathroom when I got into the room, because she said my bladder would fill up again as she was scanning. I think I drank too much water, so ladies, don't go crazy. But the ultra sound itself was really mind blowing. It took about 45 min, and out Child wasn't moving a lot, so she had to move me around and ask me to go to the bathroom again, hoping that would make the baby move. She took scans of every important part of the baby, Brain, different bones in the babies legs and arms, bladder, heart chambers, measured my placenta, and the babies skull. She caught the baby sucking it's thumb and said ( i couldn't see this part because she had me lay on my side away from the screen) that our baby has a " Cute Profile!" She really couldn't get a clear shot of the profile which made me really sad. Before I went in I imagined staring at that little profile, just imagining what our little one looks like. But she did get some good side view shots of the whole body! And boy oh boy does that kid have some LEGS! Legs for days. Basketball or super model, that's my current theory ;)

Weight: still only up 5lbs!

How do I feel: Really good for the most part! My throaty congestion is almost gone and my voice almost back! PTL. I have spring break next week, and some time off of work, so I'm really looking forward to doing some more nursery organizing, crafts, and resting! Rory and I shopping around for nursery chairs this past week and found the kind we love. We plan on buying our Glider Swivel Recliner from Costco, they have a " Rory Recliner" that we couldn't pass up! ;-) It's a gift from Rory's Mom! She's amazing.

Maternity clothes: I'm wearing mostly maternity tops and some bottoms. Same as last week.

Cravings: same as last week, nothing special to report here.

Additional Information: Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — about the size of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)
He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Movement: Nothing to report here (sad face) I know I've felt the baby move, but as a first time Momma, I can't really distinguish the kicks from gas bubbles. So they say when you feel a lot of gas bubbles, that's the baby. I am anxious to feel those first real noticeable kicks!

Gender Wives tales!

let's see where we rank on our gender wives tale list again!

Baby's heart beat: 133 ( last appt): Boy

Cravings: Boy ( I prefer salty 90% when choosing foods)

Morning Sickness: Boy ( I haven't had morning sickness)

Emotions: Boy

Skin: Girl

Sleep on: Girl

Headaches: Girl

Results:

    4:boy 3:girl

if this little one is a girl, she's going to knock all these wives tales on their ends! :)

Boy wins again!

19 Weeks!!!!

How Far along/ how long to go??: 19 weeks along,145 days to go, 21 weeks to go! That means I'm about half way there! That's insane and freaks me out! YIKES we don't have ANYTHING for the baby yet!!!

How I feel: Overall doing pretty well, this cold/allergies (?) are still here, but are slowly going away, nights & mornings are the hardest. My poor voice has been gone for weeks now, and that is the worst part of all of this. Pregnancy wise, nothing really daunting...(thankful.) My arms and hands are no longer messing with my sleep at night, which is so lovely!

Sleep: Sleep is back to normal, I'm really trying to train myself to sleep on my left side, vs. my back, right side or stomach. I'm not a left side sleeper, I mostly sleep on my stomach and right side. It's starting to be very uncomfortable sleeping on my stomach, so that helps.

What I miss: my non pregnancy clothes. It's a little discouraging putting on a pair of shorts or even some of my shoes, and see that they're snug or hurt to wear or don't fit at all. It's just that feeling of gaining weight and not fitting into your clothes that is disappointing, but then that thought hits you about why they don't fit and all that disappointment flies out the window!

Maternity clothes: I'm wearing a lot of maternity shirts and dresses. I've worn some looser cinched jeans and pants, but nothing really for the bottoms yet. I'm using the old hair band on the button trick for most of my pants/shorts, but I do have a few that still fit.

Weight gain: Will find out tomorrow at our 20 week anatomy ultrasound! This belly is sure poppin though! I'm finally showing! It's a wonderful feeling knowing the world can almost tell you're carrying a little miracle.

Mama thoughts: I'm thrilled and so looking forward to our 20 week scan tomorrow! It's a very in-depth ultrasound that scans every part of the little one to make sure everything's growing and forming properly. Our plan is, with the advice of Momma's who have come before me, to go to the office about an hr before our appt because you are required to drink a lot of water. I think that's a smart idea! That way I don't have to travel or walk too far with an overly full bladder. Other then that I can't believe I'm half way there!!! It's mind blowing how quickly this all has gone. At the same time that does cause me a little rush of " oh no, we really need to clean and organize and buy!" I obviously have my baby showers to look forward to, where I know many people will bless us with feathering our nest for out little one, but we are planning a lot of neat things for the nursery, and a trip to Ikea for a crib! So we really do need to get a move on these things :-) Which is nothing but fun!

Movement: I haven't felt anything definitive yet, but there are a few " gas bubbles" I feel that I question. That's what it's supposed to feel like, gas bubbles, a butterfly flapping it's wings, popcorn popping, etc. I'm guessing this baby is just gonna wait till it's a little  bigger and stronger and will give me a big ole kick to let me know it's there :-) I always  sense extra pressure on the right side of my tummy, so I think the baby loves being on the right side, since it has a little extra room (for now) in there. My thoughts about that, is that Rory sleeps on my right side, and He talks to the baby, reads sings, says " good night I love you baby" so the baby loves my right side!

Cravings: no cravings! This pregnancy has been interesting in this way, I haven't had any serious cravings, which hopefully means I'm eating right and this baby is getting everything it needs.

Additional Information: Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. The hair on her scalp is sprouting. This is a crucial time for sensory development: Your baby's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

18 weeks!

How far along/ How far to go:
18 weeks and one day, 153 days to go!

Mama Thoughts: fun fact about these photos! They were taken on the campus of the college I attend, Rory and I went to a Ren Faire today on Fresno City College campus and took the photos as we were leaving! I had the most delicious tri-tip sandwich!

Weight: 3lbs gained

Movement: nothing definitive yet, but when I was laying down the other evening I felt the rhythm of a heartbeat kind of tapping. I can't wait to feel this baby!

Additional info:
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long, and he weighs almost 7 ounces (about the size of a bell pepper). He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

How I'm feeling: I've had a cold the last few days, so that's difficult, making it hard to breathe because of congestion. My hand numbness and pain is almost entirely gone! A friend of mine who's due in two weeks, reminded me, that like all other symptoms, they usually come and go quickly, that's been very true for me.

What I miss: Nothing crazy this week :) Just ready to meet baby!

cravings: nothing this week.

17 weeks!

How far along/ how many days/weeks left:
17 weeks along!
23 weeks to go!

weight gain: 3 lbs

maternity clothes: wearing comfier pants & baggier shirts. Picked up a few maternity pieces at Ross yesterday and my amazing sister picked up & sent down, a big ole box of gently used and inexpensive maternity clothes! Some her's, some I picked out on her FB group " get-R- gone". I'm needing some stretchy type pants, like I'm wearing above. I'm trying to avoid " leggings" and sweats, but it's getting harder and harder.

how I feel: This week has been one of the most challenging. I've lost some circulation in my left hand at night and now during the day too. So I wake up a LOT at night to switch positions. It's hard not getting solid night's rest anymore. But I guess I'm just getting ready for baby.

what  I miss: a full nights rest.

sleep: see " how I feel"

cravings:  nothing this week!

movement: I haven't felt the baby move, but I can for sure feel a newer pressure in my abdomen/ uterus down in the lower right side, almost all the time. I know baby is down there, and I can feel it more now!

mamma thoughts: because of the pain in my wrists, I scheduled my very first maternity massage, and boy was that fantastic. I will for sure be scheduling another, in the next few months!

additional info: Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Journal Makeover!

Yesterday I madeover a planner that I purchased at the student store on my college campus that I attend. It was only.$5! But it was boring and lackes the Pop that I wanted. We arw going to do a graphic wall, similar, although less busy, on our living room wall and the crib wall in the nursery, so I thought i'd give it a shot...with my carpenter husbands help of course. He measured for me and gave me a ruler and helpful hints on making it uniform. I LOVE how this spunky lil planner looks now!
